Vosges - Retrospective

This hike had been pretty tough. I had made sure I had enough food and warm clothes to not get into real danger, but also left a lot of details open. That way it had been tough and adventurous without being too risky. In hindsight, I definitely should have handled some things better, but then again this was also my first solo- and first winter hike. 
 

My biggests errors were my stove and fuel, a lack of snow shoes, and I could have planned the route better. That way it would have been a lot easier. I also need to find a solution for my frozen shoes.

 

Although it had been tough, and sometimes a bit dangerous, I am glad I went. I learned a lot and it was nice to suffer in the outdoors for a few days. Next summer Bart and I are going on cycling vacation again, we haven't decided on the route yet.
